Senior Accountant

THE COMPANY

As one of Australia's leading independent car hire companies, we're growing rapidly and looking for a commercially minded Senior Accountant to help drive our financial performance and support the next stage of our growth. 

 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring statutory compliance across the business. You'll partner with leaders across the organisation, identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, and provide valuable financial insights that support strategic decision-making. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. 
  • CA/CPA qualification (or currently working towards). 
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, month-end close and statutory compliance. 
  • Sound knowledge of Australian tax and accounting requirements (BAS, GST, PAYGW, Payroll Tax, FBT and Super). 
  • Experience with Xero or a similar accounting/ERP system. 
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability. 
  • Experience in multi-site, fleet, transport or asset-intensive industries is highly regarded.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, balance sheet reviews and preparation of accurate financial and management reports.
  • Prepare financial reporting, variance analysis and supporting commentary to assist the CFO and Executive Leadership Team in strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and review workpapers to support statutory compliance, including BAS, GST, PAYGW, Payroll Tax, FBT, Superannuation and other regulatory obligations. 
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and strengthen financial controls by investigating reconciliation differences, identifying process exceptions and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Partner with branch managers and department leaders to provide commercial financial insights, improve reporting accuracy and enhance operational accountability across the business. 
  • Support the ongoing development of finance systems, automation and process improvements to improve efficiency, scalability and reporting capability. 
  • Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation while liaising with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors to ensure compliance and audit readiness. 
  • Contribute to a high-performing finance function by supporting additional projects and undertaking other reasonable duties aligned with your skills, experience and the needs of the business.

Customer Experience Representative

The Customer Experience Representative is an important role within our operations as they are the front facing and main point of contact with our customers. We are looking for someone who prides themselves on exceptional customer service and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure our customers enjoy a smooth, positive, and seamless experience. To equip you to deliver this experience, full training will be provided.

 

About the role

 

Reporting to the Branch Manager, we are seeking a CXR on a Permanent basis for our Eagle Farm branch.

Casual roles are also available for the right candidate.

 

In this role, your key responsibilities are:

  • Provide a positive experience to our customers over the phone and in person.
  • Managing car hire rental agreements – on-hire and off-hire
  • Complete all associated paperwork in an efficient and timely manner
  • Check vehicles in and out
  • Record any vehicle damage and organize relevant maintenance checks as required.
  • Sell associated rental products and services over the counter
  • Refuel and move vehicles through the branch in a safe manner
  • Ensure the branch is always maintained in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies, rules, and guidelines always.

About you

 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Flexibility to work on a rostered system across weekdays, weekends and public holidays (essential)
  • A Driver’s licence (essential), preferably an Open Driver’s licence (highly regarded)
  • Computer skills are a must (essential)
  • Experience in an administrative, rental, sales, or service role (highly regarded)
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing priorities.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to handle customer complaints
  • Be agile and able to work at pace.
  • Must have own reliable transport to and from the branch

As our Customer Experience, Resolution & Insight Executive, you’ll own the end-to-end customer resolution process — managing escalations, driving service recovery, and uncovering insights that shape how Alpha Car Hire shows up for customers across digital, call centre, and branch operations.

You’ll be empowered to make fast, impactful decisions that balance customer satisfaction with commercial performance — helping us turn challenges into lasting loyalty.

  • Lead Customer Resolution and Retention, owning and managing all escalated complaints and complex service matters end to end.
  • Take accountability for Service Recovery initiatives to strengthen customer trust and long-term loyalty.
  • Deliver structured insights and root cause analysis to identify systemic issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Support the establishment of a Resolution Centre, including the development and formalisation of quality assurance standards and governance frameworks.
  • Partner closely with Branch, Marketing, Fleet and Operations teams to ensure consistent, customer focused outcomes aligned to business objectives.
