Going on a road trip with your mates? Then you better make sure you have everything you need to make it the best one yet. Also, if you’re planning to visit different locations but don’t want to bring your own car to avoid the inconvenience, then renting a car is the best and hassle-free way to travel and get the most out of your adventure.
Before you get excited, decide on where you’ll go, who you’ll go with, and have a list of the things that you must bring. Here are the absolute must-have items you shouldn’t forget to bring on your road trip.
Prepare the basics.
Aside from the obvious licence and registration, you need to bring your vehicle’s manual and a good pair of jumper cables when you find yourself in a spot of bother. Also, don’t forget a first aid kit, as well as any medication you need for allergies and such.
Stock up on food and drink.
You never know where you’ll wind up and the next servo might be few and far between. It can get pretty annoying real fast if you find yourself stuck in a car full of hungry roadtrippers. So, having some non-perishable foods, like chips, nuts, biscuits, and the like can help keep your mates’ hunger in check.
Bring maps. Real ones.
While it’s convenient to use popular maps and navigation apps on your smartphone, having a hard copy is more advantageous, especially when your mobile runs out of power or you don’t have internet connection.
Chargers and power banks.
As mentioned earlier, your smartphone can easily run out of juice, so make sure you top it off when you have the chance. Always have a power bank handy, too. So even if you are on the go, you can still power up your mobile device.
Spare tyre and tyre pressure gauge.
In case you have a flat tyre, it’s a good idea to have a spare. Also, bring a tyre pressure gauge to make sure you don’t overfill it with air.
Equipment for emergency situations.
Bring a swiss army knife. You don’t need to be MacGyver to use this effectively, but for sure, it will come in handy in most situations.
When your car battery dies, and it’s dark out, make sure you have a flashlight and use fresh batteries so you’ll have a light source. Also, bring flares just in case things go from bad to worse.
For entertainment on the go.
No roadtrip is complete without your very own epic playlist. If you prefer using a USB to store your favourite tracks, or if you’re old school like me who likes to play tunes on a mixtape, it doesn’t matter. You and your mates can sing along while driving. Also, bring a deck of cards or a board game that you can play to help pass the time.
Wherever you’re headed, it won’t hurt to be prepared and stock up on supplies, so your road trip will go without any hitch.
